GORP Volunteer Opportunities
Ripley, OH
Saturday Registration/check in 7:30 – 9:30
Paddler registration/check in
Saturday Boat Launch 9:00 – 9:30
Assist paddlers in carrying canoes and kayaks as well as paddling gear to boat launch.
Saturday Safety Paddlers 9:30– 4:00
The responsibilities, duties, and benefits for guides depends upon the services and skills provided by a particular guide. For example a lead guide will have different responsibilities and duties relative to a naturalist guide or a general support guide. Weekend commitment and prior GORP or guiding experience preferred. Responsibilities/duties of guides (heritage, naturalist, lead, and support guides): Communication system maintenance (making sure the radios/telephones are charged and ready) Lead or assist in safety coordinated activities (i.e., safety briefings, etc.) Assist paddlers with take-out and put-in. Act as guides/rangers on weekend/day-paddle dates. Assist with VIP paddlers Paddler safety support First aid. Rescue aid and instruction.
Saturday Gear Shuttle 7:30 – 10:30
Load camping gear from registered paddlers into van and drive van to Chilo (15 miles) and unload the gear into one of the yurts.

Saturday Boat Take out 3:00 – 5:00
Assist paddlers in carrying canoes and kayaks as well as associated gear to the designated area.
Saturday Night Chefs 5:00 – 8:00
Set up and clean up as well as the preparation of the meal.
Sunday Morning Breakfast 7:00 – 8:30
Set up and clean up as well as the preparation of the meal.
Sunday Gear Check into Van 8:00 – 9:00
Load camping gear from registered paddlers and drive the gear to Chilo and unload the gear into one of the yurts.
